Naturally, being a photography-lover first, human second, I took some photos as I was prepping the room for the evening and as the night unfolded, and as soon as I started to flip through the photos, I knew I wanted to share them. Again, for a night that was supposed to be a casual get-together with some good friends, things didn’t turn out too bad, if I do say so myself! So, today, I’m going to do just that, as well as share some tips for you to use should you decide to host your very own game night, or any other kind of gathering, for that matter! I am by no means the authority in hosting, heck, I’m not even 25 years of age yet! I have hundreds of parties still on my list to host, but the following are some thoughts I have on making hosting as easy as counting 1,2,3!
When I first read about Urban Decay’s impending release of yet another “Naked”-themed product, I must admit, even I — the self-proclaimed makeup addict (seriously, y’all, please don’t call the producers at My Strange Addiction on me, I’d love to be on TV, but not in that fashion) — rolled my eyes with chagrin and sighed. “Again!? Seriously??” were among my first thoughts, along with several other, possibly R-rated thoughts with the words ‘greedy,’ ‘ballsy,’ and ‘bastards’ tossed in around the thought of the product developers at Urban Decay. However, I did my duty as a beauty blogger and I hustled online to check if it was in available on the Sephora website. As soon as I saw it, I clicked the little (but awfully dangerous) “add to basket” button and checked out. I didn’t expect to like it, and quite frankly, I expected to want and/or feel the need to return it to my local Sephora as soon as it arrived on my doorstep…but then it did and my life changed forever.
During the warmer months, I like to keep my fashion choices simple and streamlined, usually pairing a feminine top with something more rugged like denim shorts or capris on the bottom. I find that the dress code for social gatherings these days are gradually becoming more and more laid-back with each degree the temperature rises, so now that we’re about halfway through the season and are inevitably experiencing some hot, hot heat nationwide, people are only expected to show up in a swimsuit to even the more “formal” events! 😉 Now, barring a pool party, I would never actually do that (LOL, can you imagine!? #awks), but casual, light and breezy looks like this one keep me simultaneously calm, cool and stylish. What more could a gal ask for!? 🙂
It’s been a full month since I last hit the publish button on the ol’ bylaws, and I think it’s time for a comeback. You know, a resurgence, ressurection, renewal; a return, if you will. Yes, life is busy and hectic and crazy and mad, but isn’t that what makes it so awesome!? We would all be very boring people if we didn’t have plenty of things to occupy our days, and hey, they all make for lovely stories down the line. Yes, it’s true, you may think that doing mundane things like walking your dog or going to the grocery store are boring, simple things but have you ever considered this? What you do in your day may seem totally foreign to someone else, and vice versa, and that’s the fun part! To me, the chats I have with the security guard in my office every morning around 6 am seem totally normal, but to someone whom I’ve never met before, that may seem totally strange. Then, there’s also the simple truth of, sometimes your normal, almost mechanical routine could simply, not be. Your commute into work or school could take three times as long because of traffic. Or, say, you could bump into a childhood friend at the dry cleaners. Sure, it might be random, it might be odd, hey, it might even just be plain inconvenient, but at least it’s something different, something that you’ll probably share with friends and family and could even turn into an anecdote. My point is, life throws the unexpected at us everyday, and, speaking for myself, the busier we are, the more caught up in the “busyness” we get, but sometimes, it’s nice to be busy. Social interaction is something that is so important for us here on Earth, and so much of that interaction is us sharing stories from our day, and just think about it, we wouldn’t have any stories to tell if we weren’t busy at all, would we? 😉
With that being said, today I’m going to share a few photos, a few stories and a few things that have just made me happy in all of my busyness since I last wrote an article. I honestly, truly deem each and every one of my readers as one of my friends, and dude, it’s been a while, so this is going to be like one great, (hopefully not too) big catch-up. So, pull up a seat, grab a libation of your choice (I’m sippin’ on some iced coffee as I write this and it is delicioso!), and get comfy. Here we go! 🙂
Happy Tuesday, gang!
Today, I thought I’d bring you a super quick outfit of the day, or in this case, evening! A few weeks ago, my friend Brooke & I had a big evening out and of course, a girl’s gotta look good for the first girl’s night out of the summer! Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to take proper photos of this outfit, but I did manage to sneak in a few quick snaps in my back garden (LOL).
Hello, hello sweet friends, how are you today? 🙂 I hope you’re doing well and happy hump day! 🙂 So, I don’t know if you are aware of this, but I’ll be celebrating my 24th birthday this Friday (YAY!), and thus, I’ve been doing a little bit of beauty shopping. I shouldn’t be really, because there are numerous bigger budget items that I would like to/need to save for, but hey…a beauty addict’s gotta do what a beauty addict’s gotta do. 😉
About a week ago, I received the most lovely email from Sephora, saying that it was time for me to pick up my annual birthday freebie. This is, no joke, one of the best emails I receive in the entire year. In case you don’t know, Sephora has a dollar-for-point rewards program, so basically, that means that every dollar you spend will earn you a point. You can bank and use these points to redeem various rewards throughout the year, valued at 100 points ($100), 250 points ($250) or 500 points ($500), but another special little perk of being a “Beauty Insider,” (join here if you aren’t one already!) regardless of the amount of money you spend in Sephora, is the birthday gift . Now, it’s always a small gift and it varies throughout the world, but still, every year, on your birthday, you will get a little gift from Sephora on or around your birthday! How nice!
This year, I’ve heard that the gift is pretty good from friends who have celebrated their birthdays earlier in the year, so, naturally, I couldn’t wait to try it for myself! Well, I picked up my mini NARS lip pencil duo towards the end of last week (you know, in the midst of my beauty
hoarding shopping), and while I haven’t given them a “full” try, I wanted to share my preliminary thoughts, a mini review, if you will, with you today, as well as some thoughts on a dry shampoo that I picked up on Friday night that seems to be quite hyped at the moment. Question is, does it deserve the hype that it’s been getting? Hmmm…let’s find out, shall we!? 🙂
