It’s snowed a lot recently, and I mean a lot. Typically, the only-pretty-when-it’s-fresh-and-white-and-you’re-inside fluffy stuff results in super cold temps (we’ve had 3 extreme cold weather alerts in my area this week) and lots and lots of layers. People tend to sacrifice their style in the winter because it’s so cold; the goal for an outfit instantly changes from stylish and visually appealing to practical and warm. My question is, why can’t you have both!?
Oh, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards, the winter formal of award show season. By that I mean, you’d obviously want to dress up if you were going to the SAGs, but it’s the more casual of the “Big 3” (Golden Globes, SAGs & Academy Awards). It’s not quite as formal and eventful as prom, it’s more like the good times and good laughs of a house party, with semi-casual evening wear thrown in for good measure.
So, did you catch the 21st Annual SAGs last night? I did and I have to say, it looked like a good night! It seemed that all of our celeb friends and crushes seemed to be having a blast, and I can’t really say I majorly disagree with any of the big winners. I do, however, disagree with the way that some of Hollywood’s leading ladies (and gents) were dressed! Oh my, did you SEE some of those looks!? Today, I’m going to walk you through some of my favourite looks, and some of the looks that if I see again, my eyeballs might actually pop out this time (and not in a good way, either).
I hope you enjoyed that quick little video! As aforementioned, I really must go now, but I hope you are having a great weekend and I will be back soon with another post!
So before the unofficial start of summer (aka tomorrow), I thought I’d sneak in a little OOTD, or in other words, Outfit of the Day. I launched the Fashion Friday series a while ago but I’ve not really done much with it, so I thought this was the perfect chance to do so!
It’s been quite hot here the last couple of days and I thought I’d show off some spring colours as well as wear something that would keep me cool…
…and this is what I came up with!! It’s perfect for a hot spring day, and I felt pretty trendy.
So, my t-shirt is from Garage, my camisole is from Aeropostale, and my skirt was actually a high-low dress that I made into a high-low skirt from Stitches. When I tell people this, they always act shocked, but honestly, it wasn’t that hard. I just ripped the top off and surged the edges so it wouldn’t fray. Then, I just sewed the flaps down so that it wasn’t obvious that I had basically just destroyed the dress. 🙂 Oh, and if you were wondering, my flip flops are from American Apparel!
And that’s the finished look! I hope you all enjoyed that brief Fashion Friday post! What would you wear on a hot spring day? Let me know in the comments below! 🙂
Have a great Friday! 😀
Hello my lovely readers! How are you? I sincerely hope you are well and are having a great start to the week. 🙂
Today, I want to start a new series, called Incredible Inspiration. This series is going to be, well, exactly what it sounds like. It is going to a number of posts in which I discuss and highlight my favourite people in the world. There are some people in this world that I draw such inspiration from, whether it is beauty and fashion inspiration or real-life inspiration. As most of you know, I went through a very rough time with my health in 2007 and 2010. Ever since, I can honestly say that I look at life through what I consider to be a new set of eyes; I appreciate and value everything, even the little things. I have a whole list of people to talk about, and when I look at/think about these people, my whole mood changes. I am instantly inspired, and I want you to be inspired as well. Some of these people will be celebrities, and obviously, I have never met them, but they inspire me none-the-less. Some of these people will be “real” people, and when I say that, I mean people that are an active presence in my day-to-day life. One of the main reasons that I am starting this series is to get a discussion going about the different people that inspire us, so I encourage you to comment below!
Today, I want to start off this exciting new series with one of my greatest inspirations, Ms. Sarah Hyland.
