Hello, hello my friends! Long time no read, huh?
I’m so sorry for my lack of posts, I am not trying to make excuses but I was super busy with school and then I got sick (happens a lot when I’m stressed). However, I have realized that there is not really a point to having your own website if you aren’t going to do anything with it, right? Haha! So, I’m going to change my system. On the days when I am not as busy as others or when I am feeling healthy and happy, I’ll write a few posts (it takes longer than you’d think). Then, I’ll actually post them on the days that I want to get something up but I am too busy to breathe. Sound good? I thought so!
I did not plan out this post to be a long one, but I do feel the need to talk about the 84th Annual Academy Awards, which happened this past Sunday (the 24th of Feb), as I am an avid fan of any and all kinds of award shows, but the Oscars are something that I never miss. As sad as this sounds, Oscar day is actually one of my favourite days of the entire year, as I usually get somewhat dressed up, invite some friends over, pop a few bags of popcorn and host a mini party (side note: something else you will learn about me is that I absolutely adore entertaining, and if I had the means and friends who were into celebrating anything and everything, I’d probably have a party once a week). I just love the Oscars; I guess that it comes from my love of movies and essentially, everything Hollywood.
This year was a good show, overall, but it wasn’t one of my favourites (I’ve been watching it since I was about 7 or 8). I was a little disappointed with Billy Crystal’s hosting, as he is usually funnier, but it was still a good laugh. There were so many movies that I loved and appreciated the unique, special flare that they brought to the screen this year! Fun fact: every year, I print a nominations checklist, see most, if not, all of the movies nominated and then pick what I think will win. My friends & I all do this and then the winner (aka the one who got the most correct) gets a small prize. I usually fill mine out after the Golden Globes, as they are usually some indication, but there is still always a huge influence from what I personally liked and think should win. Despite usually having a very good instinct (I’ve won the last 4 years) about what will and won’t win, I totally lost this year! I feel as if it was similar to the Grammys this year, in that the Grammys were renamed by the viewers as the “Adele Awards”, as she won most of the categories she was nominated in. So, going by that, the Oscars should have been named the ‘”Hugo’ Awards”! It won a lot, which I was not very impressed with, but oh well. I’m very pleased that The Artist won best picture, and the lead actor in it, Jean Du Jardin, won best actor. It was a fantastic movie, and I would 100% recommend it and say that it deserved it! I’m also ecstatic that Meryl Streep won best actress, as in my eyes, she is the best actor of all time (male OR female). Her speech was beautiful, and she seems like someone who has not let her fame, money or talent increase her ego at all. Which is, quite honestly, rare these days. She deserved to win just for that reason!
Moving on to the second most important thing on Oscar night, the fashion and beauty! OHEMGEE. Though, to be honest, I was very disappointed with the fashion this year, some of these women dressed impeccably. They looked absolutely stunning and flawless. Read on to see an overview of who I thought rocked the carpet…and who didn’t.
