Good morning, my lovely readers! How are you all on this rather humid day? I’m enjoying the sunshine, but the humidity and stickiness, not so much.
Anyways, moving on to the point of me writing this… it’s Day 5 of Red (Lips)!
Today, I am going to be displaying a quick, simple way to add just a pinch of red to the lips, while making sure they are moisturized at the same time. One can wear this look when they don’t feel that the occasion suits a completely red lip, or want to achieve a high fashion look without going all out. Also, sometimes when I wear an all black outfit to school or to the mall, I add a pop colour to the outfit by applying this product to my lips and wearing a bright nail polish. The finished look gives you a sophisticated look without much time being wasted (you could literally apply this product in the back seat of a cab or on the subway; just make sure you sanitize your hands before and after application). It’s also good as a first step to the red lip if you aren’t really comfortable with wearing bright red lips to the supermarket yet, as you will get a subtle sheen of red on the lips that won’t make you standout, but at the same time, you won’t dwindle into the background.

MAC Tendertones are one of my favourite products that MAC has come out with to date, and that is including every single product that MAC creates. They are quite close to perfection, with their incredible taste and smell, the moisture that immediately sinks into your lips when you wear one, the portability (I take one called Hush, Hush everywhere with me), etc. Honestly, I would not rave about them if I wasn’t completely in love. The first time they came around was about 3-4 years ago, and they were a permanent fixture in MAC’s line of lip products. However, they discontinued them shortly after and, due to frequent request, finally re-promoted them in the Shop MAC, Cook MAC collection that came out in February 2012. I wasn’t into makeup much back when they were around, so for 3-4 years I’d heard amazing things about them. I literally screamed when I read that they would be a part of the Shop MAC, Cook MAC collection. I am a bit of a freak when it comes to these things, so I called 3 days in advance to put the items I want on hold, and managed to pick up all 4 of them that were in that collection! Yay!
So, one of my fave tendertones and one of my most used is called Hot N’ Saucy. It is a very sheer, almost cherry-looking red colour with no shimmer. When first applied, it looks pink, but if you add just one more layer of it, it turns into this beautiful sheer tint of red. It’s gorgeous!

To be honest, there’s not really much else to say about this product. You can use a lip brush to apply this colour and to build up more coverage, but to be honest, the sheerness of this product is what makes it so great. Look, I’ll show you!

So, there you have it! A beautiful sheer lip colour that is, pretty much, as close to perfect as it gets. If you are new to makeup loving and collecting (aka hoarding, and trust me, I know first hand), you might not choose a product like this over a full coverage lipstick or something similar. While I can understand that, I want you to consider this: I actually wear it more than I wear my other red lip products because of it’s sheerness. It works in my favour for events that I want to look done up but overdone or to pack a little bit of punch in my look for the day. Sheer lip products seldom get the love that they deserve as some argue that they are a bit more work than others. Yes, that is true, but in my opinion, they are more useful and are more versatile.
Hope that helped some of you and if you are reading this before you do your makeup for the day or for a big event, I hope I inspired you to at least try a red lip. Remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect, because red lips are a look that comes in many shapes and forms, so you don’t have to feel pressured to do what everyone else is doing. But before this turns into a post about peer pressure (hahaha), I’m going to love you and leave you.
I hope you enjoyed and if you have any questions/comments/concerns or even if you just want to say hi, leave a comment down below! Thanks for reading!
Much love,
S♥
