So, you all know that one of the reasons why I haven’t written a post in aagggeeesss is because I went to Vancouver, BC for a week!
But, what you don’t know, is why I went!
My family and I (just my parents, as I am an only child) went to Vancouver, British Columbia for my uncle’s wedding. However, we also decided to make a bit of a holiday out of it, so we stayed a week. In case any of you are wondering, I payed part of my way there (I put $500 towards an $800 plane ticket) and am very grateful for the rest that was taken care of by my parents.
Moving on, I wanted to share a few of the highlights from my trip with you all!
But first, a quick disclaimer, most of the pics were snapped by me with my camera while driving, so they are not the best pictures, but they still work for me. 🙂
So, here we go…
Click read more to see some photos (click to enlarge) and read more about my trip!
The highlights are as follows:
1. Where we stayed!
We stayed in the cutest little cottage! It was so qauint and quiet, but the best part – when you walked inside, it was a completely revamped, modern and up-to-date hotel! I love the mashing of two worlds and the service in this particular hotel was just the best! One of the best hotels I’ve been in in a very long time!
2. Driving through downtown Vancouver!
We stayed at one end of Vancouver and my uncle rented a house for the week at the other end of Vancouver, so, we essentially had to drive through the city every time that we went to visit them! And let me tell you, I loved every second of it! Vancouver has got to be one of the prettiest cities I’ve ever seen! So modern, yet still maintaining some charm, with architectural wonders floating about and some very, very nice people. Also, I thought where I came from was a green area, as I live in the suburbs, but trust me! You have not seen green and lush until you have been to Vancouver! It’s just amazing!

The first time I’d ever seen a TWO STORY Shoppers Drug Mart(I went on to see 3 more)! CRAZY!

3. The Views!
Vancouver, is easily, one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. It is gorgeous throughout the whole city! We wanted to go to Whistler but we ran out of time, but next time (and trust me, there will be a next time), we will! However, we did go to Richmond, Victoria (on Vancouver Island) and downtown…and the views were outrageous! So majestic and breathtaking. Truly lovely in every way.

So many beautiful flowers!
Mountains, mountains everywhere…
If you ignore the obnoxious railings, you get a stellar view of downtown Van City!

We all had something that we wanted and/or needed in the states, so we decided to take this trip to drive across the border to Seattle. The first day we went was a Tuesday and we got some good deals, but we decided to head back on the Thursday and that was the day I struck gold. On Tuesday, I went to a CCO (Cosmetic Company Outlet) which, according to online reviews, wasn’t a very good one and was aimed towards Canadians (in terms of pricing). But, since I’d never been to a CCO, I went anyway. I was NOT impressed! Luckily, I found a Target that day so I didn’t walk away completely empty-handed. Thursday, however, I found the best place known to man aka ULTA. I could NOT tell you how much I freakin’ adore this place. I will be dreaming about it forever…
Ahh…the beauty goodies that I came back with… (post coming on that later!). OH! Another plus to going to Seattle, a lot of fun family memories were made on the trip and it was a beautiful drive.
Me with a cup of Starbucks…in Seattle, where Starbucks was founded! 😀 (1st Day)
Me with a HUGE caramel apple. It was beyond delicious, and, really, so was all of the food that we ate in Vancouver and Seattle! (1st Day)
The most genius creation on the planet! In Canada, to get to another level, we all sit and struggle with our carts on moving sidewalks. But, at this Target, you push your cart in and it gets pulled up while you ride the escalator! AMAZING! (1st day)
Contraption in action! (1st day)
Ulta aka heaven on earth (2nd day)
Sheila – aka my family’s rented car’s GPS (global positioning satellite) was a hoot! None of us had used a GPS before and so many jokes and memories were created with the use of her! We had a cool GPS that could change the way she said things (which I thought only existed in the movies!), so we set her to the Australian accent setting and “Sheila” was born.
Sheila at work. Ahh…good times.
And last but not least…
6. The Wedding!
OF course! The wedding was the whole purpose for the trip and is the cause of a mini renunion for our family! I have to be honest, I didn’t really know what to expect, as we were told that it was a non-traditional, non-formal wedding (and if we bought a gift for them, they would be offended), but it was SO much fun! The venue, as well, was beautiful (a house high up on a mountain) and the food was cooked by my incredible cousin who is a chef in New Zealand (who has a real talent, if I do say so myself), and it was perfection. Can you say party in my mouth ten times fast!? I can! 😉
The only downer? THE WEATHER! I left approx. 33 degrees celsius and sunshine for 15-18 degrees and rain (for 4 out of the 7 days we were there). It was horrible, but we made the best out of what we were given! 😀
Alright, so that’s it! I would share more highlights and photos but we would be here all day and all night! I hope you guys enjoyed this post! Did you go anywhere recently? If not, where would you like to go? Let me know in the comment section down below! I look forward to reading your comments!
See you soon!
