It’s Friday and I, personally, couldn’t be more pleased. This week seems to have been one that refuses to end, with so many unexpected twists and turns, it actually hurts. I do apologize for my lack of posts, blame it on my poor time management skills and naïveté over how busy this week would get. I’ll be back to regularly scheduled posts next week, so #getexcited for that! In terms of my weekend, I don’t have much planned, which is just the way I like it! I certainly am looking forward to some downtime over the next couple of days…’cause I need it. Phew.
Before I sign off for the weekend and head for the oh-so-dreamy hills that are my sofa, my bed, and/or my pajamas (no exaggeration, that’s the first thing I’m doing when I’ve written this), I thought I’d share my new favourite nude lip combo! I tend not to gravitate towards nude lip colours naturally, as I’m a huge lover of a bold lip for tying things together and spicing things up. However, as of late, I’ve been surprisingly calm with my makeup south of the (nose) border, and this has been my go-to duo! Aren’t they pretty !?
When I want other aspects of my makeup to grasp attention or when I just can’t be bothered to shuffle through the many red lipsticks I own, I opt for this nude lip, and trust me when I say it has been rocking my world. First, I apply a layer or two of MAC Cosmetics’ Viva Glam V, which, if you haven’t heard already, is one of the world’s best lipsticks, in more ways than one. Not only does the soft, shimmery muted pink flatter every complexion I’ve come across (then again, I’ve never met an alien, so who knows? It might not work so well with blue or green skin. Sorry Neytiri and Gamora! ;)), but it’s also super creamy, easy to apply and takes hours to fade. Plus, as if it couldn’t get any better, the entire $19 CAD that it will cost you to get your hands on this beauty or one of the other 5 shades in the Viva Glam collection goes towards the MAC Aids Fund, in order to assist and support men, women and children living with HIV and AIDS. So, you’ll get to look pretty while supporting a very important, ongoing cause. Win, win!
To finish, I apply MAC’s Love Nectar Lustre Glass, which is one of my all-time favourite nude glosses. This gorgeous, ultra shimmery peachy gloss applies both evenly and smoothly, and makes my lips look “out of this world” shiny. I love this aptly named gloss on top of most lipsticks or lip liners, but when layered over Viva Glam V, it takes on a new form of wonderful. I won’t leave you hanging, though; I’ll put my money where my mouth is (HA!), and I’ll show you!
I love that when paired together, these two products take my lips (and everything else) up a notch. My lips definitely stand out (how could they not with all that pearly shine!?), all while maintaining a lovely, natural, “my lips but better” look. Now, I won’t lie, I have a load of lip products in my arsenal and get bored using the same colours repeatedly, but I’ve worn this all week and for me, that’s a great sign. Ladies and gentlemen, I think I’ve stumbled upon a winning duo that will remain in my makeup box for at least a few weeks! I can’t help it; I just love the “barely there” appeal of the two layered together (they compliment each other perfectly ), and though I love, love, love my bold lips, a nude combo sure does make a nice, fresh change for spring! Yay! #harktheheraldangelsSPRING
So, tell me, what lip colours have you been reaching for lately? Nudes? Reds? Pinks? Or, are you a “throw on some lip balm and run out the door” kind of girl? On another but oh-so-appropriate-given-my-tired-state note , any plans for the weekend?
That’s all for today, friends, I hear my pajamas and Marvel’s Agents of Shield on my PVR calling me, but I shall return next week with more ramblings posts! 😉
Lots of love from your loyal beauty geek,
S♥
