Allo again, friends! Happy Family Day to you if you’re in Canada, Happy President’s Day if you’re in the US, and happy Monday if you’re anywhere else! 🙂 I hope the day has treated you well so far!
Today, I’m going to do something a little different, I’m going to briefly walk you through the things I’ve been loving so far this month!
I’ve been absolutely loving soft hues, so it’s no surprise that this bedazzled bow bracelet from Forever 21 has made it into most of my outfits lately (sold out, similar here), alongside that bow-tiful gold ring from Garage (sold out, similar here)! The two perf accessories always add just the right amount of feminine flair to any outfit, which, with the ridiculously cold weather we’ve been having here lately, is always nice to see (ain’t no windchill gonna crush MY style! ;P). Essie’s lovely nail polish in Spin the Bottle went on my nails yesterday to replace my Romper Room manicure, and it’s slowly becoming my new favourite nude for my fingertips! It’s super flattering on all complexions, and just gives off this sophisticated yet somewhat carefree vibe. Oh, and the Essence highlighter powder from the Love Letters collection from last year has been a must-have for a subtly shimmery glow that is perfect for this time of year (just make sure to use a light hand if you give it a try!). Plus, who can resist that beautiful poem!?
Another accessory that I just can’t seem to get enough of right now is my beautiful pearl bracelet that I received as a gift from my dad a couple of years ago. I’m all about sophistication, femininity and class in my outfits as of late, and what’s going to give a touch of each with ease like a pearl bracelet!? Nothing, that’s what! For makeup, I finally did a big makeup brush clean a few weeks back, and I’ve been really enjoying getting to actually use my brushes as a result! I was beginning to forget what it’s like, it’s been so long! Everyone is always raving about the MAC makeup brushes, and I know, I know, they’re good quality and last for ages, but I totally forgot how freakin’ amazing the MAC 129 brush is for applying just the right amount of blush! It spreads powder evenly and smoothly, and has honestly recaptured all of my love and attention. Also, for the last week or so, I’ve been doing some subtle colour introduction by double lining my eyes (post on that coming this week), and nothing beats the Sigma Beauty Small Angle – E65 brush for creating smooth, precise lines. On my lips, I’ve either been going really dramatic or really, really neutral, and for the more dramatic looks, I’ve been reaching for Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush. Wow, this is such a beautiful, deep berry colour and not only does it pair well under other lipsticks or glosses, but it also lasts forever on your lips! Adversely, I’ve been digging the MAC Tendertone in Tread Gently (limited edition, similar here), which, despite looking yellowish green in the pot (gross), adds the sheerest, most pretty, slightly shimmery sheen to the lips. Think “I woke up like this,” only better! 🙂
Returning to the topic of nails, I already have my next nail colour lined up, and it’s going to be one of my favourite polishes of all time, Essie’s Borrowed & Blue. This truly gorgeous light, pastel, robin’s egg blue is super flattering against my dark skin but also looks lovely on, well, pretty much everyone I’ve seen it on, and it’s a sure reminder that spring is indeed on its way (we hope!). I’ve also been eyeing China Glaze’s White on White, as it’s a stunner and I usually opt for it around this time of year. This one also pops against my skin, which I love, and, lucky for me, it turns out that white nail polish is actually a trend this upcoming season. Moving from nails to neck, this opulent necklace from Charlotte Russe (old style, similar here) has been a hit with me lately, as I can always find a reason to wear it. Just look at it, it’s gorgeous and can completely transform an outfit in an instant. Speaking of completely transforming a look, wowza, is the MAC Chromagraphic Pencil in Hi-Def Cyan ever a bold one!? I must admit, I haven’t exactly busted this out to wear often since I won it last year, but whenever I have, it certainly makes a statement. I’ve been using it to double line and it (more than subtly) brightens up my eyes and my whole face with its super bright, beautiful colour.
Above all else, I think my most reached for lip product this month so far has been Tarte’s Glamazon Pure Performance 12-Hour Lipstick in Wild, which just so happens to be one of my all-time favourite lip products. These rich, pigmented lipsticks easily glide onto the lips and last for hours and hours before even showing the slightest signs of wear, and the colour that I currently own, Wild, is one of the most flattering, medium-deep, cool reds I’ve ever seen (and y’all know I love my red lip products!). Wearing this pretty colour on my lips always makes me want to step up my glame (glam game, patent pending ;)), and these charming jewel drop earrings certainly do the trick! I could not tell you where I got these, or they might have been a gift, but regardless, I’ve been wearing them non-stop! They can make the most simple of outfits instantly magnificent and really take everything up a notch. There are a lot of similar earrings at Icing and J Crew, and I might just have to snag a few soon, because I love them!
Given that I’ve been on a major Valentine’s Day induced lovefest, I just can’t seem to get enough red or pink in my life lately! Even though V-Day is now (sadly) over, I’m still on the kick and I think I will be for awhile. About a week and a half ago, I turned to the Urban Decay Naked 3 Eyeshadow palette, and haven’t really used any other colours for my lids or crease. This palette is filled with 12 beautiful rose-hued and inspired shades, both warm and cool toned, and no matter what your eyeshadow preference, I’m sure you could find at least one colour in this palette to suit your fancy. How could you not?! Such lovely shades have made wearing eyeshadow more often (post coming tomorrow on that very subject) a fun (not to mention, pretty!) experience.
If you’ve been reading the bylaws lately, you may have notice that I’ve been having a bit of a fragrance fling. Well, my mom surprised me the other day when she waltzed into my room, totally nonchalantly and said “I see you want 6 new perfumes, but you should give this one a try and tell me what you think.” After catching the pretty round ball she tossed me, staring at it in disbelief for a moment and then chasing her out of the room to clarify, she’d received Jimmy Choo’s self titled fragrance as a gift and, given her super sensitive nose, she wanted me to be the guinea pig to see if this new bottle would be too strong for her to use. I have done this kind of thing before for my awesome mom, but I have to say, mom, if you’re reading this, you’re going to have a struggle on your hands! The fragrance is my favourite combination, sweet and fruity, with notes of toffee and pear, with just a hint of orchid. It smells divine, and I’m going to try to pawn it off of my mom (lovingly, of course ;P — I love you, Mom ♥)! Transitioning from smelling pretty to pretty things around the neck, this necklace that my parents got me a few years back from People’s (old style, similar here) has been incorporated into most of my outfits for the last few weeks. I just love its dainty, light, airy feel and the super feminine half encrusted heart shape; it’s just beyond lovely. Finally, we have a product that I’ve been thanking my lucky stars for, a product that I’ve actually been using for just under a year now but have been especially pleased to use with each frigid passing day. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream is the must have for ultimate hydration, especially if you have super parched skin (winter can do that to you, even if you regularly have normal or oily skin). One layer of this soothing cream immediately replenishes and nourishes the skin, leaving it feeling sliky soft and radiant. You need it now! 🙂
Alright, there you have it. Those are some of the products that I’ve been loving for the last few weeks. Don’t be too surprised if you see any of these products mentioned in my Febraury favourites video, because right now, I think they’re the tops! Also, let me know if you want to see a whole post dedicated to any of the products mentioned, I aim to please! 🙂
