Hi friends, how’s it going!? As I haven’t been around in a while, happy June! Can you believe we’re already SIX, almost seven months into 2015!? I can’t! I hope the month is treating you well so far and here’s to the final third of it being completely AWESOME! 😀
A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of attending a Pink Garden party organized by one of my favourite bloggers, Amanda of Pink The Town. It was quite the event, with tons of pink and other feminine details around every corner (hello, I was in my element!) and plenty of fun activities to keep everyone attending occupied for hours on end. Today, I’m going to show you how much fun you missed out on and if you’re in the Toronto area, why you should attend Amanda’s next event! 😉
The event, which was held at Jeanne Lottie, a fashion boutique located in Yorkville, seemed ultra appealing to me immediately on reading Amanda’s post because a) I want to start being more adventurous with my blog and “getting out there,” but also because the event was being held in support of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Now, you may not know this about me, but I actually previously got treatments at Princess Margaret; yes, those blood exchanges (or apheresis) that I’ve talked about every-so-often online used to be performed at Princess Margaret! Thus, my family and I always hold the folks over at that amazing hospital very near and dear to our hearts, because they truly are an incredible bunch. Don’t get me wrong, Princess Margaret is one of those stellar hospitals that I hold high in my estimation even without considering my personal connection, but when I factor in that they were and still are a huge part of the reason that I’ve gotten to where I am today, they are very, very special. So, I called my friend Caitlyn and she graciously accepted the invitation to come with me, YAY! 😀
As soon as we arrived, I knew we were in for some good times because the house/store was pink. Literally pink…
Upon entering, I couldn’t believe my eyes, to be honest. Everything was feminine and beyond visually appealing, including the mannequins adorned with pretty dresses and a vintage PINK staircase…
After being guided a little, Caitlyn & I decided to put those pretty pink steps to work and headed to the upper level. I didn’t know what to expect, and my nerves were kickin’ in hardcore at this point, but hey, why go to a party without really looking around!? What we discovered, friend, was what I envision Shangri-La to be…pink & feminine details everywhere you turn, lots of yummy food and of course, a touch of makeup & beauty! Umm, yea…I was happy I was there.
A makeup artist greeted us as we got to the patio and to my surprise, we were given the option to add some pink to our current makeup look or skip the pink and try something else if we aren’t too fond of the colour (as if such a person exists :P). What!? The makeup wasn’t something just to look at!? No way! Now, you may not know this about me, but I completely adore the colour pink, regardless of the shade, so it took everything within me not to scream “GIVE ME ALL YOU GOT!!!” Alas, your girl kept it cool, and my demure, muted baby pink lip was swapped for an ultra chic, glossy hot pink one. Score!
Consider this, we’d only been at the party for maybe 15 minutes and we were already being given the royal(ly pink) treatment and despite having minimal interaction with the lovely makeup artist, I’d already learnt not one but TWO things from the experience: one, I need NARS Schiap lipstick in my life and makeup collection, like, yesterday, and two: my, my, makeup artists’ tables are oh-so-pretty… *sigh*
If you didn’t get an oddly pleasing warm & fuzzy feeling at the visual representation of cosmetics in the above photo, not to worry, that just means that you don’t get excited at just the sight/thought of makeup and that you’re a completely normal, mentally stable human! #goodjob #Imightneedserioushelpsoon
Moving around the corner, Caitlyn and I discovered one of my favourite parts of the event, the treat table. Wait! Hold that thought…before you jump to judgement and assume I loved the treat table because there was food on it, let me advise you, you’re way, way wrong, friend! I just really enjoyed how everything on the table was presented and, keeping in mind that I idolize Lucille Ball (she was a “Suzie Homemaker” AND the exec on a TV show she starred in…#goalsrightthere), I was impressed. I mean, really, this was no ordinary treat table, but rather, one that would make Martha Stewart herself pass out…
See what I mean!? It was laid out and organized in such a pretty way, not to mention how TASTY everything on it was! #yum Oh, and did I mention the macarons!? Oh my, they were excellent, soft, chewy and full of flavour; my compliments to Le Dolci, who supplied these edible delights…and yes, I will be visiting you very, very soon! 😉 😀
Anyways, moving on from my macaron obsessed digression and on from the treat table to around the corner, Caitlyn & I discovered something so wonderful, I couldn’t even believe it; we found a do-it-yourself nail bar…under a TREE-HOUSE! Like, what!!?
This party was happening, folks, in every way. Everywhere you turned, there were lovely, pretty and ultra-femme details…
…and while they definitely added to the atmosphere of the party, they never detracted from the main purpose of it, to fundraise for and support Princess Margaret. In fact, directly beside the treat table, another table full of prizes to be won in a silent auction, of which all of the proceeds would go to PMH, rightly took centre stage (just look at the details on the table; even the pens are pink!)…
…and the prizes were so enticing, my friend Caitlyn decided to place a bid on a skincare package (which she unfortunately didn’t win, but it was for a good cause, so good on you, Caitlyn! :D)!
Overall, it was an amazing experience and I think I can speak for Caitlyn when I say that we both thoroughly enjoyed the event. I honestly couldn’t get over how detailed everything was and how welcome I felt, plus we got to taste some pretty treats and even make some new friends along the way (Hi Jamie, if you’re reading this! :D). I mean, when push comes to shove, who else can say that they were literally wined and dined in a pink house on a random Saturday this summer…?
Not many folks, that’s who. 😉
Plus, because we were two of the first 100 guests at this swanky shindig, Caitlyn and I snagged some goodie bags, and let me tell you, Amanda & co. did not disappoint!
As for Jeanne Lottie, the cutest little pink boutique shop in Toronto? Well, it has completely stolen my heart, and while I didn’t pick anything up at the time due to…*ahem* a severe lack of funds (the downside of being a beauty blogger is you’ve got to constantly buy-and-try products/keep up with the trends, which does not keep my wallet happy, lol), I know I’ll be back. 🙂
So, again, I had a lot of fun at the Pink The Town Pink Garden Party and would definitely, without a doubt, go to another event like this. It was a beautiful Saturday (you know, before the short, sharp downpour of rain.. :S #CanadaEh) in the middle of summer and we got to meet some new people and share a truly lovely experience…what more could a girl ask for!?
Thank you for having us, Amanda and I can’t wait to see you at the next Pink The Town event! 🙂
What have you been up to lately? Let me know in the comment section below, I’d love to catch up with you, friend! 🙂
Until next time,
