This weekend was fantastic, and do you know why, friends? ‘Cause I did absolutely nothing. I mean it, come Friday at 4:30 pm, I signed off from my computer and didn’t even look it at until now. Probably not a healthy way of life for a student, haha, but I had a really long, stressful week and couldn’t even fathom looking at a piece of work. It was so nice to unplug from everything, and just get down and dirty with some good ol’ fashioned lazy days. Oh, one thing that did happen that might be of importance, I spent some time with the one and only Miles Teller!!!! :O :O :O
Okay, okay, I’m sorry, but I hoodwinked you. As much as I wish I did, I did not do anything cool like interview or style Miles Teller, but I did spend a fair share of my time with him this weekend. 😉 Before you (or my subconscious) get any ideas, the only time I spent with him was with his handsome face on my television and me fangirling on the other side of the TV. Oh, Miles, you dapper, dapper man, you.
But before I get too into obsessing over telling you all about my QT with Miles, let’s start at the beginning, shall we?
*I will be talking about various television shows and movies in this post, and I will be “spoiling” some major plotlines, so if you see a show that you do or could see yourself watching, I’d probably advise you to scroll real quick passed that section. You’ve been warned :)*
Friday Evening
Friends, it has been a good weekend for my main love, media. My mom and I have been waiting for this magical DVD since September, when my dad so kindly pre-ordered it for us, and we finally got it in the mail a couple of weeks ago! We’re hardcore Downton fans and have been waiting for an opportune time to start our obsession binge-watching, so when my mom came home from a hard day at work, I made her a cup of tea and suggested some DT (Downton time!). I’ve never seen her face light up so much, so quickly, and needless to say…we are already in by three episodes (that we didn’t watch all on the same night…no…never). Season 5 is getting REALLY good, really quickly, and quite frankly, I miss my Jimmy Kent!!! Bring back Ed Speelers!! #bringEdback
Saturday
Saturdays are usually quite busy in my household, as everyone is home and we all have errands to run. Dry cleaning, grocery shopping, toiletry buying, etc. However, as we’re all morning people in my household (well, I wouldn’t say I’m a morning person by choice, but seeing as my parents make so much freakin’ noise in the morning as they depart for work, I’ve gotten into the routine of waking up at an obscene hour :(), we usually have the most important things out of the way by lunch time. This is usually when we break for a couple of hours, with me (usually) doing some work, my mom catching up on online shopping and emails, and my dad going out to visit friends and socialize. Then, we meet up again in the evening for dinner and either watch a movie, play a game or just talk (my parents are my besties, no judgement please). This Saturday, though, I had no errands to run (having zilch money will do that to a gal), and my mom was too tired to accompany my dad, so we literally just sat in the family room for hours on our phones and watching What Would You Do (SUCH a good show, makes you think!). I also got strangely into quizzes on Saturday…and I blame it on Refinery 29. See, their catchy “Who’s your celebrity twin?” link in their daily newsletter caught my attention, and before I knew it, I was taking the quiz and having my mom jokingly take it. As you can see, I got Grace Kelly (YES! :D) and my mom got Audrey Hepburn, in case you care ;), and it was all a downhill spiral from there.
I have a very popular pin on Pinterest of an adorable dolphin, and no joke, it is one of my most popular pins ever. Well, Saturday, someone else pinned it and, after I swiped the notification on my phone to see what pin it was, I ended up reading my caption of the photo (that is over three years old, might I add). I (quite nonchalantly) say in the caption that if I were to be any sea creature, I’d be a dolphin, a seahorse or a mermaid, and I do not know why but it got me thinking. Long story short, my mom and I ended up taking the Buzzfeed quiz for “What Sea Creature Are You?” and we BOTH got great white shark. I’m a little surprised, but I also kinda dig that people would fear me if I lived in water. Hehehe *insert plotting fingers here*
All I have to say here, friends, is Buzzfeed is a dangerous, dangerous world. Before you know it, you’ve spent literally hours doing heaven knows, and while I had fun on Saturday, I can’t help but wonder what my guardian angel was thinking of me. I actually think that he or she (if I’m lucky enough to even have one) just sat on the end of the couch, arms folded, shaking their head, thoughts doused in loads and loads of judgement. I can also imagine that after the first hour or so, he or she grew bored and called down their angel friends, having a good laugh about the chick wasting her time on the internet. “As if this is the only time you’ve done that,” I just heard them say. Sigh.

Anyways, after a WHOLE DAY of killing my brain cells, my fam and I had a lovely dinner (my dad made chili! SO GOOD! :D), and I decided to kill off some more brain cells by watching a movie in my bedroom. A little while ago, I put Divergent the movie on to tape on our DVR because I was intrigued by the multiple trailers I kept seeing. I didn’t really want to see the movie when it came out in theatres last year, because not only am not the biggest fan of Shailene Woodley (read: I cannot stand her), but I couldn’t even make it through the book when I tried to read it last year. I was really disappointed because it was so hyped up and friends kept telling me that if I enjoyed The Hunger Games (which I thoroughly LOVED; got through the entire series within a week), I’d love this story, too. I did not, however, “love” this story, I couldn’t even make it passed the 3rd chapter of the first novel (hence why I didn’t ever continue my #BeyondtheBylawsBookClub). Despite all of that, though, I decided to take a chance and watch the movie on Saturday night and HOLY. COW….I freakin’ ADORED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was honestly such a great, well-executed movie. The story? Wonderful. The acting? Top notch. The casting? UH, thank you, whoever cast this movie, for bestowing my innocent little eyes with THEO FREAKIN’ JAMES for 2 and a half hours of my life. The score!? Fantastic. No joke, the soundtrack is the only thing I’ve listened to on Rdio ever since. Hans Zimmer & Junkie XL, you’re both geniuses, I tell ya. Overall, I thought the story was just gripping and real enough to be relatable, with the perfect twist of romance that I love in any movie. In fact, my favourite scene in the whole movie was when Four knowingly reaches for Tris’ hand right before the brainwashed “troops” get to Abnegation. So many feels. I actually really liked that, though Tris’ character is such a strong, powerful one on its own, what makes her and this story unique (in my opinion) is the bond and flawless team that her and Four make as a couple (Four’s fear landscape scene, though! And the part when Four is under influence and he’s about to shoot Tris!? THE EMOTION in their eyes!!!!!!!). I’ve gotta say, I’m so into their teamwork and their compatibility. The chemistry and sexual tension between Theo & Shai is through the roof. Dare I say, even more so than JLaw & JHutch as Katniss and Peeta in THG!? Did I just get kicked out of the THG fan club? Sorry, I am so not sorry. Anyways, as you might have been able to guess, I absolutely LOVED this film. Well done, guys, well done. Can’t wait to see #Insurgent in March! 😀 😀 😀
Now, on a more personal subject, I have this thing with voices (is that overshare? Maybe? Oh well, we’re all friends here!). I don’t know, but in the last 3 months or so, I’ve started to notice peoples voices much more and a good, distinct voice in a male is like angels descending from heaven to me at the moment (though, it doesn’t hurt if they are drop dead gorgeous, either ;P). Can I just take a moment to observe and thank high heaven for Theo James’ sexy voice? Oh my. And Miles Teller, he has a pretty darn appealing voice, too. The two of them have automatically made it to the top of my celebrity crush list. Theo James & Siobhan, sitting in a tree…..yeah, that has a good ring to it. 😉
When I was watching Divergent, all I could think when Peter, Miles Teller’s character, appeared on screen was how familiar he looked. Actually, I got so curious and partially annoyed with myself for not automatically knowing where I’d seen him (visual media addiction is a very serious thing, y’all), I paused the movie to look it up. After a few minutes of searching, I found him on IMDB and realized that I’d seen him in the countless TV trailers for “That Awkward Moment,” the film also starring Zac Efron & Michael B. Jordan. It wasn’t long before I’d scrolled through most of his past work, and holyyyy sheeesh! The dude is talented and has been in some great films (included one called Whiplash that is nominated for an Academy Award this year, and before you ask, yes, I am currently trying to coerce one of my friends into seeing it with me)! I vowed that “one day soon,” I’d watch more of his movies, ’cause I really liked him…
Sunday

HA! “One day soon” ended up being the very next day! My family and I like to go to breakfast every so often, so we decided to go yesterday, and it was good fun (as always). We then ran some errands at the local mall before we came home to proceed with our individual work. To be fair, I ended up being a bit more productive yesterday, with planning out some details of the week and starting my laundry, but I couldn’t get Miles out of my head (I sound like a stalker or serial killer, oh my)! So, after I’d done “enough” work for the day, aka barely any, haha, I watched some of his interviews and then set out to find at least ONE more of his movies. Turns out, one of them was actually available to watch on the Movie Network, and I was off and running! I watched the Spectacular Now, which, ironically, also starred Shailene Woodley (there was no escaping her this weekend, man…nah, I’m just kidding, I actually don’t mind her now. I didn’t like her before because I didn’t think she could act, but seeing her great acting skills in Divergent, I gained some respect for her). Though this film was good, I wasn’t as fond of it as Divergent, and I’ll tell you the sole reason why: WHAT WAS WITH THAT FINAL SCENE!?!?!!? Was that smile of hers a good thing, like “Welcome home, Sutter,” or was it “Get out of my face, jerk, I’ve moved on!!!????” I do not like conspicuous ends to films, wrap it up properly, damnit!! Nonetheless, Miles blew me away with his skills and he has gained a dedicated fan in his fan club (once I like you, you have to really mess up before I turn the other cheek 😀 #loyal). I think there are some great things to come from Miles (including him playing Mr. Fantastic in the reboot of Fantastic Four!!! YESSSSS!!!!!!), and I can’t wait to see it all unfold. 🙂

After my obsessing over the new handsome additions to my life, lol, I settled down for the Grammys and MY, OH MY, what a show!!!! I could go on and on about the show, but really, let’s face it, the biggest highlights of the night (apart from the fashion — WOAH at Rihanna’s poufy wonder!) were Lady Gaga & Tony Bennett performing one heck of a number, Annie Lennox taking us to church with Hozier, Pharrell Williams channelling Estaban from one of my fave shows of my childhood, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Kristen Wiig killing it with Sia and Maddie Ziegler, Prince wearing…orange!?, Beck winning Album of the Year, everyone asking “Who is Beck?” after he did (LOL) and Kanye West nearly giving us a part 2 of #ImmaLetYouFinish as Beck bewilderingly accepted the award. The show really was a great big party, filled with lots of fun, including my mom and I dancing to some of the live performances and rolling our eyes at some of the speeches. If you didn’t see the show or want a more in depth recap, click here and/or here to read all about the deets of one of the best award shows this season. In case you didn’t know, I usually live tweet throughout the night of the biggest award shows (think the big 3 – Golden Globes, SAGs, Academy Awards, and more often than not, the Grammys), so if you want to head on over to my Twitter, you can follow me so you’re prepared for February 22nd (the Oscars), or you can just read some of my live reactions to the best parts of the show (is that narcissistic? No, I just don’t want you to miss out on the fun of last night, friend! :)). Some of the people on Twitter were on fire, last night, though, so a good deal of my fun was dying of laughter at their tweets and sharing the jokes with my mom. Ahhh, good times.
All in all, it was a fabulous weekend. Though I wish I could have spent it hand in hand with one of my new celebrity crushes, or better, both, I still enjoyed every second of it. I needed a weekend like that, full of relaxation, joy and laughter, because now, I am back fully reloaded, recharged and ready to take on the week! 🙂
So, now that I’ve bored you to tears with the details of my weekend, what did you do over yours? Did you catch up on your media, as I did? Or did you get down to work? Did you spend time with loved ones? Did you catch the Grammys? Did you have FUN!? 🙂
That’s all for now, folks. Thank you SO much for reading this mega long post (I’m sorry! I didn’t realize when I started to write this that I’d end up spewing my media-loving guts :/), but I truly hope you enjoyed reading at least some of my thoughts. I’ll be back soon with another (shorter) post, but until then…
Much love,
S♥
