Happy Sunday, gang! Are you having a good one? You know what they say, a Sunday well spent makes for a week of content, so I hope you’re having a fantastic day, lovelies!
Today, I’m going to begin a new series, one that I’ve been wanting to start for some time now, but it kind of got put on the backburner when other blog dreams or ideas came about. I truly want Beauty Bylaws to be a place where you can check in and feel at home, and more importantly, at peace. I don’t want any kind of stress or anxiety to arise when you arrive on the home page, and furthermore, I want each and every pair of eyes that sees something on my site to feel uplifted and to have enjoyed what they have just seen, hopefully even learnt something along the way. Call it cheesy, call it positive, call it naïve, call it, well, whatever you like, really, but it’s how I feel.
I am, above all else, a word lover. I guess it’s subconsciously the reason why I talk so much or, always fail to write short posts; I just love words. Words fuel days and comprise as much useless nonsense as they do emotionally charged and strong opinions. Words easily convey overall vibes and thoughts, and when you really think about it, they can make or break your day. In fact, I bet a lot of you don’t know, but people with more negative frames of mind actually use more negative words per day than those of a positive mindset, and vice versa. It’s a scientific fact! Quite cool when you think about it; your personality literally dictates the words you choose, from saying please and thank you for your coffee in the morning to that afternoon meeting that you have with your uptight boss.
Me, I like to think that I’m a relatively positive person, for the most part at least. Something that has really helped me through good times and bad, sunny days and cloudy, is a look at some positive words. It may seem über cheesy, but it really helps me. There’s nothing like scrolling through a search of uplifting quotes on Tumblr on a Monday morning to rev me up for the week!
Thus, I’m going to start a monthly series of “buzzwords,” words to light the spark under your umbrella to power you through the month, on good days, bad days or whatever kind of days come your way. This month’s word? Renew.
It’s the middle of March as I type this, and let’s face it, it’s a critical month for all. The sky changes from cloudy and grey to clear and blue, the air moves from chilly and frosty to crisp and clean, and plants, trees and flowers all begin to bloom and grow again. It’s a slow start, but something about the foliage changing from brown and nondescript to bright green and yellow and on the verge of blossoming that can really change a girl’s spirit. This month, I want to renew many aspects of my life, meaning I want to live each day with a renewed sense of hope, joy and drive, and/or maybe remember and restart my quest for various dreams or goals that I may have had in the past.
It may sound really silly, because hey, it’s just a word, but think of it like this: Spring is the season of rebirth and revival, and if we lived like that day to day, think of what we could accomplish! Instead of focusing on how sore we are from the gym yesterday, or how we don’t want to finish that boring essay or report or, say, how painful a sprained elbow is (AHEM), we can push forward and maybe reach new personal heights at the gym, create the perfect conclusion to that essay that seems to never end or learn to use your right arm in new, innovative ways that avoids turning simple, normal tasks into painful and stressful ones. It’s all about your outlook, and I choose to believe that if you look at life, or even just a month, through a different perspective; if you come at things from a different angle or approach problems with a fresh state of mind, it might just make a change for the better. 🙂
So, is there anything you find important to renew this month? Or will you choose to simply remember or repeat this word to yourself every day of the month, almost like a mantra, like I’m trying to do? Feel free to comment away down below, or you can send me a tweet or an instagram with #buzzwordofthemonth! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! 🙂
With love,
S♥
