Throughout the month of October, I embarked on a bit of a colour journey, experimenting with colours, their concepts and tonal themes. Today, I’m sharing exactly how things unfolded…

Happy Monday, gang! 🙂 How was your weekend? Mine was…well, to be honest, pretty sucky. I wasn’t feeling well all weekend, but *sigh*, the week has begun so it’s time to get crackin’!
Last month, my mother & I had the good fortune to accompany my father to Toronto for an overnight trip to the Westin Harbour Castle. He had some kind of presentation to give the next morning, so that’s why we decided to stay. It was a fantastic weekend, filled with fun, laughter and good ol’ fashioned good times with my fam. I took a fair share of photos, so I’ve been filtering them through for the last couple of weeks in preparation to share them with you (look for a travel diary of sorts later today!), but first, I wanted to compose a kind of “overnight essentials” packing guide for you.
Hello, hello friends! Apologies for my sudden absence this week, I had a test on Thursday that I really wanted to study hard for and didn’t plan my time earlier in the week very well. And then…just when my test was over (it went quite well, but only time will tell the real results!) and things were resuming as normal, I fell and sprained my elbow. #doh #SiobhanisaKOOKYKLUTZ
I still need to get it tested further this upcoming week, but so far, my family, the doctor I’ve seen and I think that it’s a grade 2 sprain which means that it should heal within about 2 weeks (and I get to wear a chic scarf around it to accelerate the healing process)! YAY! It has been torture, though, as it still hurts A LOT and I’m having to learn to do things that I take advantage of ordinarily differently, as to not distrupt or put too much weight or resistance on my elbow. Plus, to make things worse, this happened to the elbow on my right side, which, you guessed it, is my dominant arm. I just have to let nature and my body work its magic and let the healing begin (though it’s hard, apparently anything I do wrong like twisting in the wrong direction can upset the process…BOO).
The good news is, I’m refusing to let this stupid elbow of mine disrupt my life in any way, including writing posts as normal (I actually have a busy and exciting week planned for the bylaws! :)) or putting some makeup on my face. Heck no! If you’ve read my latest post about my current beauty wants, you’d know that I’ve been so excited to see Disney’s live action version of Cinderella, which hit theatres yesterday. She’s always been my favourite princess and it’s always been my favourite story of the “fairy tale classics,” so I’ve been literally counting down the days to when I could see it. Well, folks, that magical day was today (and SURPRISE! A full review of the movie will be up tomorrow! #switchingthingsup) and like any true Cinders fan, I was decked in powder blue and even did a special look to reflect my adoration of the ethereal princess. Last minute, it dawned on me that a special makeup look is really not so special if it’s not shared! 😉 So, here you have it, friends, a super quick but fun look for all of you fellow Cinderella fans (or themed makeup lovers)! 🙂
It’s almost Spring and to say that people are happy is a large understatement. This winter has honestly felt like one endless loop of polar vortexes (or whatever the new, trendy name for those are), snow and bitter, bitter windchill. Everyone in my area has been slightly overreacting to the “warm” weather we’ve had since Saturday and, just to be clear, by warm, I mean 4° Celsius (WOO, break out the swimsuits and high-waisted shorts!) and by overreacting, I mean that people are walking into stores without coats on and…get this, I even heard two sales associates in Bulk Barn yesterday talk about walking home from work. That’s serious business, y’all, Canadians are officially shedding the winter blues. 😉
With that, comes TONS of beautiful releases in the beauty world, and of course, I want ALL the makeup. Here’s a roundup of some of the products that I really, really, reallly want (like, now).
“A rose by any other name would smell as sweet…”
I love roses. Everything about them, their smell, the way they look, the pretty name; they are simply stunning. Last night, I was looking through some of the first photos that I took with my new camera, and my favourite test subject was this beautiful bouquet that my mom got for Christmas from her good friends in England, which featured some truly magnificent roses. It honestly was one of the best bouquets I’ve ever seen, gorgeous at every angle, and I always started my days after Christmas by capturing a few photos of the beauty, before the flowers died. Here are some of my favourite snaps of the lovely bouquet & mini reviews of my current selection of rose-y products. 🙂
