Allo me’ old chaps! Day 11 of Red (Lips) is among us!
So, by now, your lips are undoubtedly chapped and thirsty, whether it be from you keeping up with TDORL and trying all of these looks out daily (which I appreciate, thank you), OR be it from living in a region that is currently in the midst of a sweltering summer (trust me, I feel your pain). Whatever the reason may be, your lips are in need of some major TLC (that rhymed! I’m a poet and I truly did not know it! ;D).
“But, Siobhan!?”, you may ask, “I need to keep up with the fashion, I can’t be seen wearing *gasp* JUST BALM!!!!!”
“But, friend…”, I may reply, “who ever said you needed to lose your stylish ways to keep your lips hydrated!?”
Yup, if this was a chess game, the ref* would call checkmate right about now… 😉
*Sidenote: do they have referees in chess!? Timekeepers? Bystanders? IDK!
Today, I am going to showcase a red lip product that [I feel] was meant to be a saviour to your lips. There is literally no season that these babies don’t do the trick. Yet, your lips look, and more importantly, feel soft, luscious and perfect.

Let’s cut to the chase, the greasy, petroleum jelly-esque lip balm look is out (WAY out -.-). It’s all about tinted balms lately, and though tinted balms are a great choice for everyday, it’s no different when it comes to making a small statement. Using a tinted balm is like the baby sister of the High Shine look, subtle and sweet, without the extra POW.
In no way am I saying that choosing to wear a red tinted balm to a big occasion is wrong, as I know that you’ll look fab whatever look you choose to rock. However, I, personally, don’t think that you’ll turn as many heads wearing this as you would wearing, say, a matte or a vampy red lip.
Nevertheless, I love tinted lip balms, and think that they are even more lovable because of their versatility and flexibility (you definitely cannot say that about every red lip I’ve talked about). And, when tinted lip balms are actually a combination of what their name suggests, colour and moisture, I cannot get enough of them…
Cue the dreamy music and enter, Korres Lip Butter, stage left…
Oh ma gawl. These things are awesome, for the lack of another word. The lip butters from Korres are comparable to rubbing a whole tube of Soft Lips, EOS and Burt’s Bees all over your lips, and then coating them in a lip mask. Yup, they are that good. If you are someone who prefers your lip products come in a tube, then you might not want to give these a try, as they all come in pots, but trust me, these puppies are worth the extra fuss.
Korres has a couple of these saviours, in a variety of colours, but my favourite at the moment is the one I will be highlighting, Wild Rose. It looks scary at first sight, but it transforms into a really nice, soft red when applied. And, surprise, surprise? What do I like most about it? Mhmm…it’s buildable. One layer? Mighty fine. Two layer? She’s a beaut! That being said, you do get a fair amount of colour with one layer. Perf!
So, enough of the chatting, right? Let’s get into some photos!!

|6 grams/0.21 ounces in these bad boys.
I’ve had mine for a while and it still looks virtually new…
It’s not as scary as it looks… (natural light)
No, really, it’s not… (natural light)
Still don’t believe me, huh? (flash)
SEE!? Told you so… (natural light)
So pretty! (flash)
What I love most about this product is how flexible it is. Not many lip products, let alone red lip products come with the power to be sheer or powerful; it’s usually one or the other. Plus, this looks and feels like a dream on the lips. It’s nice when you have a product that really can do it all, all while being subtle but beautiful. Still not convinced? I’ll let the photos do the talking…
All done, two layers! (flash)
Two layers, redux! (natural light)
Now, do you see what I mean about this being super subtle and sweet, but not so subtle that you can’t even tell that anything’s there? And I put on two layers in the photos, but with one layer on, you still get a slight peek of colour, without the harshness that comes with some red lip products. It means a lot to someone like me, with super dehydrated lips, that there are products like this on the market. Not only could I pull this out in an office or more conservative setting and feel comfortable, but my lips will be happy, too! Every-body (part) wins! 🙂
Alright, so this is it for the day, I have nothing else to say
(I rhymed AGAIN)! You should definitely check this product out, it’s worth a look and it is worth the money (not that it is a lot of money). I hope that you enjoyed today’s 12 Days of Red (Lips) post and let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks for reading, love you all!
