Without a doubt, there are some people I’m extremely envious of right now, and those people would be anyone on vacation. This winter has seemed to drag on even more than others for some reason (it could be the inordinate amounts of snow we’ve received, but not quite sure :P), and all I dream about these days is a nice, warm and exciting getaway (especially seeing as I absolutely love to travel). So, with that idea in mind, I’m going to share some of my picks for places that I’ve never been that I really want to travel to at the moment.
The Runners-Up
Austin
I’ve always wanted to go to Texas, the food, the scenery and the southern charm, yea, sign me up! The photo above is Austin, but I wouldn’t be opposed to going to Dallas or Houston, either!
St. Louis
I mainly want to go here to say that I’ve been here and to look at that gorgeous skyline in person. Just look at it!
New Orleans
Southern food (mmmm, bourbon style, YUM!), Mardi Gras & jazz. Need I say more?
The Top 10
10. Cabo San Lucas
No doubt, all of my friends are really confused at this moment in time, but yes, I want to go to Cabo! I’ve always been weary of going to Mexico (I just never really had an urge to visit there), but for some reason Cabo San Lucas is just beautiful enough (the water almost matches the freakin’ sky!!) to win my affection. One day, Cabo, one day.
9. San Francisco
Technically, I have been here before, but I was 7 and do not remember a single aspect other than the insane hills. Everyone’s always talking about how lovely it is and there’s so much that I would do now that I know more about the ever-growing city.
8. Dubai
I simply have to visit this ultra-modern and trendy city one day, I just know I would love it. Plus, it’s warm (like, middle of the desert warm) and it contains the world’s biggest shopping mall. Uh, yea. It’s a must see.
7. The Hamptons
I don’t know why, but I’ve always wanted to visit the Hamptons. I’m assuming that the way that they were depicted in Gossip Girl didn’t help, and I try to remind myself that the characters in GG live lavish, extravagant lives and that it’s not real, but I still really want to see them one day, even if just for a day. Something about this lush community of beaches east of NYC seems magical to me, and I’d love to see it in person. Plus, those sunsets!
6. Milan
I’ve had the great fortune to have been to Rome with my parents for their 25th wedding anniversary (I know, doesn’t make sense that I’d accompany them on a trip like that, but I guess I was too young to leave alone at home), and I absolutely loved Italy. However, if I was going back, I’d want to spend some time in Milan. Not only is it the fashion capital of Italy, but I also hear it can very serene and makes for great photographs with the things to see. Milan gets a bad wrap, with Rome and Florence being the major attractions in Italy, but, I was never very fond of history and I think I’d be more than happy in Milan. Bring it on!
5. The Lesser Known West Coast (of America)
One of my favourite places in the world is California. It’s simply beautiful, everywhere you turn, and I’ve been lucky enough to go to LA several times, as well as San Diego (love) & Palm Springs. However, I’ve never been to the smaller, more “road trip” worthy areas, like Big Sur or Catalina Island, and I would absolutely LOVE to!
4. Banff
This little treasure in my home and native land is calling me hardcore right now! It’s just so beautiful, I’d be in photographer’s heaven AND as cheesy as it sounds, being in an almost unbelievable place like this would really make anyone want to connect with nature, and when I’m done with nature, I could just zip down to one of my favourite cities, Vancouver! Two birds, one magnificent, peacful and glorious stone.
3. Provence
Now that I’ve been lucky enough to go to Paris for a day, I want to see the rest of France! I’ve heard great things about Provence (just look at that stunning photo!) and one of my mom’s best friends lives there for 6 months of the year, so it’d be perfect!
2. New York City
The Big Apple. The Empire State. Call it whatever you like, the same two facts are true regardless: it is a spectacular place and I’ve never been. HOW SAD!!! I want to go to NYC more than I want almost anything in the world! It’s just such a buzzed about place and there’s so much to do and see; I want to clap my own eyes on it, like now!!! Hopefully soon, hopefully soon. 🙁
1. ANYWHERE in Greece
One fateful day in 2005, I went to the movies to see a little film called The Sisterhood of The Travelling Pants (and there’s actually a great story that’s become infamous in our household about how I got there, but I’ll save that for another time), and my life changed forever. The minute Lena got to Greece, an obsession formed in my brain. Ever since, Greece has been my number one destination that I want to go to. I don’t even know what I’d do if I actually got to go, but I’d probably faint more than a few times (even the thought sounds so surreal to me). Now, you might think I have specific destinations that I rank above others? Heck. No. I’m not picky, though I think if I had to narrow it down to three, I’d choose Santorini, Mykonos and/or Corfu. OH MY, take me there (anywhere in that beautiful, heavenly country) please.
So, there you have it! As you can probably tell, I’m more of a city girl than a “let’s pitch a tent” girl, but I’m not opposed to travelling to most places in the world. I really do love the whole travelling bit; packing & planning, getting there, doing your thing, returning home, it’s just so much fun and I feel grateful that I’ve gotten the chance to do as much as I have (and here’s hoping that trend will continue, eh? :D). Speaking of, my travel bucket list is always growing, and today, I shared more of my “overall” picks, but I do have categories for travel that I’d love to go to. For example, I have a whole list of choices in the “places I’d return to” category, or places in Eastern Hemisphere, tropical locations, etc. Let me know if you want to see a post on those places, too, or you can always check out my travel board on Pinterest!
What are a few of YOUR bucket list travel locations?
I hope you enjoyed that post and thank you so much for reading!
Much love,
S♥
