During the warmer months, I like to keep my fashion choices simple and streamlined, usually pairing a feminine top with something more rugged like denim shorts or capris on the bottom. I find that the dress code for social gatherings these days are gradually becoming more and more laid-back with each degree the temperature rises, so now that we’re about halfway through the season and are inevitably experiencing some hot, hot heat nationwide, people are only expected to show up in a swimsuit to even the more “formal” events! 😉 Now, barring a pool party, I would never actually do that (LOL, can you imagine!? #awks), but casual, light and breezy looks like this one keep me simultaneously calm, cool and stylish. What more could a gal ask for!? 🙂
My favourite aspect about this casual, comfy look?? It’s the ultimate “I’m ready” outfit. Hosting a BBQ and need to run to the grocery store last minute to pick up an extra watermelon and plastic utensils? I’m ready. Hey, want to go to the movies tonight? Oh, I’m ready. QUICK! Leonardo DiCaprio is coming over to do a personal meet-and-greet with you, Siobhan, because you’re just so awesome? I mean…hey, I’m ready for that too, whenever Leo and his team decide to make that happen! 😉
No, but really, in an outfit like this, which has been my outfit jam all summer long, I’m pretty much ready for anything. You name it, I’ll be there, ready in a flash and looking fabulous to boot! 😉
The jeans that I’m wearing are actually some of the comfiest I’ve ever owned. Until I was about 21, I completely hated wearing jeans, but then I started to dabble in the denim arts (seriously, it’s an art form; have you seen Nikki Blackketter in a pair of jeans!? Daaayyyummm, #womancrusherryday) and eventually discovered the denim line from American Eagle Outfitters. I’m not a denim expert by any means, and I know that there are some popular albeit pricier options available on the market (Rock & Republic Jeans, Citizens of Humanity, 7 For All Mankind, to name a few), but for my budget, American Eagle hits it out of the park. They’re comfy, they look good, come in a wide variety of colours, styles and sizes (!) and are reasonably priced (I have yet to pay over $65 CAD for a pair, and my first pair that I bought almost 4 years ago is still going strong. I may or may not now own 5 pairs of AEO jeans…#theguilt). Comfy?✓ Chic? ✓ Affordable? ✓ Bring it on.
Special thanks to my father for taking these incredible photos with his new camera! See, you becoming more interested in photography has worked out for everyone! 😉 😛 😀 ♥
So, tell me, what have you been wearing a lot this summer? Are you a casual girl like me and only pull out the more sophisticated clothing for an evening out, or are you a glam girl, 24/7, 365, regardless of the heat? Let your fingers do the walking… ↓ 🙂
On another note, thank goodness it’s Friday (#TGIF)! 🙂 Do you have any plans for the weekend? Other than going to see Fantastic Four tonight (DUH! Miles Teller…’nough said), not much is lined up on my end, so far, that is! I’m looking forward to just letting the chips…fall where they may (if you understand that reference to She’s The Man, you are a spectacular human, I love you :P). Feel free to comment away, I’d love to hear what you’ll be up to! 😀
That’s all for today, folks, but don’t forget to check back next week for some new beauty reviews and other fun shenanigans! Until then, I hope you have a lovely Friday and a fantastic weekend!
Lots of love,
ps – I really wish I had known about that silly wardrobe hanger-thingy-ma-bob coming out of my shirt, I would have tucked it in! Honestly, you just can’t get the photographers these days…. 😉 😀 ♥
