So, today was perfect. Well, as perfect as you can get when you spend all day cozied up with good books, good TV and good warmth. You see, while everyone else suffered with temps as low as -14 degrees BEFORE windchill, I had a very chill day inside…minus, you know, the actual chill. Part of that day included working on something that I am really excited to share with you…but can’t yet. Trust me, though, I’ve worked very hard on this and I hope you guys like reading about it. Anyways, the “project,” let’s say, involves a fair amount of photography, and as the light was perfect today and I was already in photo mode, I thought, “Why not have a mini impromptu photo shoot with my new favourite accessory!?” Hence, the photos above were born…teehee.
If you can’t tell what all of the above photos have in common, it’s the super awesome, soft and lovely blanket scarf that I tried to model for y’all. If you watched my January favourites video, you might have heard about it before, but I honestly cannot rave enough about it; it’s the best thing since sliced bread! Taller than me (no, really, I would say it’s easily about 6 foot in length), this blanket scarf may seem ridiculous to some (I’m looking at you, Mom! I’ll remember that the next time one of your orders comes in the mail!! ;)), but this thing is a God-send on cold days like today. Due to its, ahem, whopping, humongous size, you really can use it as a blanket when you’re cold on the streetcar, wrap it up like it’s an alien trying to devour your face and neck whole, wear it as a poncho, a cape, a regular scarf or…everything and anything in between! Win.
I think blanket scarves will be my new thing, because, really? How awesome is it that we now can wear a whole freakin’ cotton field around our necks and not be judged!? In fact, I often get compliments when I wear this out because of its beautiful colours and just look of coziness. Oh, and those colours I just mentioned!? STUNNING. We’re talking cobalt blue, sienna red, hunter green, burnt orange, black and white. Not only do they look beautiful as a combo, but the range of colours in this lovely scarf make it really easy to pair with any outfit. There is one negative to this magnificent piece, though, and that is the amount of fluff that will get all over my clothes within, hmm, basically 20 seconds of me wearing it. However, I’ve learned to ignore the annoying fluffies in place of….what was that? OH YEA, I’m the warmest of the folks at the bus station! Wha-what!?!!!!! *throws down microphone on stage and walks away with arms spread out and hands making peace signs ;)**
In case I’ve managed to convince you to go and snap up a blanket scarf right meow (and if I haven’t, I strongly advise you to reconsider, friend, especially if you live in frigid Canada), I do have some sad news for you. 🙁 Unfortunately, you cannot get a hold of the exact one I have from Zara anymore (it sold out, both in store and online!), however, I managed to track it down on Ebay here. Ebay not your thing? No worries, pretty, you can find similar scarves right here and here. Oh, and apparently Zara releases the same kind of scarf every year, just with a different colour scheme, so if you are really yearning for my scarf, don’t worry, it’ll (sort of) be back before you know it! YAY!
So, what do you think? Are blanket scarves something you’d consider or would you give these (adorable) monstrosities a miss? Exercise your voice fingers! ↓
Much love,
S♥
